The Profibus Association of Australia (PAA) is one of 25 Regional Associations (RPAs) around the world representing the Profibus International organization (profibus.com)

This global network is responsible for the integrity of the Profibus and Profinet brands and for the marketing, supporting and training among factory automation and process automation industries.

Over the last five years the PAA has worked hard to raise the profile of the world's leading fieldbus technology within the process and manufacturing sectors in Australia, and in many industries it has become the technology of choice.

Standard of Excellence

Profibus experts are brought to Australia twice a year to conduct accredited training seminars. This ensures end-users are fully certified by Profibus International and familiar with the latest developments in the technology and its application. It is anticipated that, in the future, only certified Profibus Installers and Engineers will be invited to participate in a Profibus project - ensuring the highest level of success.

As local adoption levels of Profibus digital communication continues to grow dramatically, so too has industry’s need for more information and technical support.

Responding to that need, PAA created a mobile Profibus Technology Exhibition, linked to a Technical Forum, designed to provide end-users, engineers and product vendors with the opportunity to gather and participate in an interesting and interactive information exchange.

International Profibus Competence Centre

Another PAA initiative has been the formation of Australia's first accredited Profibus International Competence Centre (PICC) in partnership with Tyco Flow Control Pacific.

The PICC supports companies in new product development and provides technical support for end-users and Profibus manufacturers.

A comprehensive range of internationally accredited training programmes are held regularly at the Smithfield based (Sydney) Technical Centre and onsite upon request.

As the demand for automation grows in Australia and throughout Asia Pacific, the PAA will continue to play a major role in supporting and spreading the technology throughout the region.
