Members of the Profibus Association of Australia (PAA) will showcase their popular
Profibus Technical Forum at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre on March 3, 2010.
The overwhelming attendance at last year's Sydney and Brisbane Forums and a growing
demand for Profibus information and support from the resource-rich WA, has prompted PAA
organisers to expand their coverage for the interactive 'One Technology for all' EXPO.
"We're not surprised by the flood of requests we’ve received from WA" observed PAA
President John Immelman. "This state has become a world-class energy hub for mineral
resources, LNG and gas processing industries. And continues to implement cutting edge water
processing strategies to safeguard their water supplies. Profibus has a major role to play
in all these sectors. The Technology Forum in Perth provides a convenient Profibus
information resource under the one roof for project engineers, instrument technicians,
electricians - in fact, anyone interested or involved in the Profibus technology."
This one-day event is a no-charge event for all attendees and combines an Information
Forum and a Technology Exhibition.
Organisers have brought together an interesting mix of companies from the process and
factory automation sectors to showcase their products and Profibus 'solutions' in an
interactive environment.
The Technology Exhibition, comprising tabletop presentations from key PAA members and
other industry exhibitors, offers attendees a great networking and learning opportunity.
The Information Forum is an interesting programme of speakers including end-users and
technical experts, each sharing their views and information on why Profibus has achieved
such an impressive level of industry acceptance over the last 20 years.
Of particular interest to visitors will be presentations from key PAA Members. Tyco Flow
Control has been accredited as the first Profibus International Competence Centre in
Australia and will discuss the importance of troubleshooting, maintenance and the abilities
of the analysis tool, ProfiTrace. Siemens will offer some unique insights into ProfiSafe
and detail the safety communications required to protect operators and plants. Endress+Hauser
will take attendees through a typical Profibus PA engineering and installation process.
The phenomenal success of Profibus can be attributed to its unique ability to
significantly reduce costs over a plant’s entire life cycle. Local adoption levels of
Profibus within the process and factory automation sectors have grown dramatically over the
last five years - a trend which is expected to continue in Australia and around the world.
